The complex was built between 1893 and 1903 named “Bilgiig hugjuulen badruulagch hiid” /The temple of developing wisdom/- Green Palace and dedicated to the 8th BogdoJibtsundamba, the head of Mongolian religion.
In 1911, the year of publically exalted, the BogdoKhaan state was formed and the 8thBogdoJibtsundamba assumed political and religious authority over Mongolia andduring 1921-1924 he became a limited authority Khan who leads Religious parts. Finally he was died in 1924, because of illness. After BogdoKhaan’s death, it was decided to transmit the remaining property of the BogdoKhaan to public museum ownership and the winter palace of Bogdo was recreated as a museum. It was the first Mongolian national historical museum.
Now the Bogdo Khaan Palace Museum consists of seven Summer Prayer temples and the Winter Palace, which was built in European style with two storey and it is showing political , religious and cultural valuable, unique objects those belong to the early 20thcentury of Mongolia, to foreign and local visitors. This museum includes sculpture idols,bronze castings, silk paintings, and papier-mache icons which was made by the school of the first BogdoZanabazar. Also there are creations of the well- known artists of the 20th century, such as deel and clothes owned and used by BogdoJibtsundamba and his queen Dondogdulam and things they had purchased for their own diversion, gifts given to them from foreign and domestic guests.
The collections of the museum is categorized by following: bronze castings, tanka, silk paintings, woodcrafts, papier- maches, religious items, animal stuffing, various collections, attachments and architectures. The brief indication of the distinguee and priceless exhibitions of this museumare; golden casting idols those have made by BogdoZanabazar and his disciples and paintings like: “NiislelKhuree”(Capital city) /1912/ painted by Jugder, “Green Palace” by B.Sharav. In addition to these, silk paintings with jewels inlaid and jewelries used by king and queen are very interesting.
In 2011, it is celebrating the anniversaries, the 2220th of the Khunnu Empire, the805th of the Great Mongol Empire, the100th of the Bogd Khan State an National IndependencyRevolution and the 90th of the Mongolian National Revolution. Bogd Khan Palace museum is planning to organize 12 series ofexhibitions for these celebrations. So far,the exhibitions “Independence day”, “Developed government Deel” and “National mother queen Dondogdulam” are already have displayed to public.
REFERENCE OF THE PEACE GATE
This gate is the symbol of the National Independency and it was built in in front of the “Temple of developing wisdom”, for the historical moment that commemoration of the 8th BogdJibtsundamba’s coronation as absolute monarch in 1911. It said that building this gate made Bogdo Khan Palace in full complex. The layout of this gate was made by architects Baajaw, Sanjid and Tejaan, and commissioned 5 men from khalkha 4 provinces for the gate building work. Those architects had made this gate mechanical way without any nails, during 1912-1919.
